The evenings stretch a little longer, the Atlantic seems less grey and more inviting, and the light turns every headland into a painting you can walk right into.
You don’t have to be chasing grand summits or months-long pilgrimages; sometimes a comfy pair of shoes, a path that curves with the shore, gulls wheeling overhead and the promise of a pub at the end, is all the balm you need.
Below are the best coastal walks in Cork that reward brighter evenings with real sea air and unhurried views.
1) Old Head of Kinsale Loop
A rewarding 6.2 km loop around the headland near Kinsale, this walk treats you to broad coastal panoramas and glimpses into maritime history — most notably views linked to the Lusitania tragedy off the tip. While access to parts of the land adjacent to the golf course is restricted, plenty of fine sea views remain on public rights of way.

2) Sheep’s Head Lighthouse & Peninsula Walks
The Sheep’s Head peninsula is one of Ireland’s most loved coastal walking landscapes: long, narrow and jutting into the Atlantic with sea on both sides. While the full Sheep’s Head Way is a long-distance trail of nearly 90–175 km, there are many shorter loops — including an accessible Lighthouse Loop of about 4 km that wraps around to the iconic structure and back.

3) The Scilly Walk (Kinsale)

7) Inchydoney Island Walk (West Cork)
