Hit South Main Street for a giant kid-friendly food market this weekend

This is an event the whole family will enjoy.
The Cork on a Fork SuperValu Family Festival Zone is taking over parts of the city centre this weekend, bringing together local food, independent producers, live entertainment and plenty of activities for younger visitors.
The festival zone will stretch across South Main Street, Bishop Lucey Park and the historic Counting House on Saturday and Sunday, August 15th and 16th, so it’s also an easy one to dip into while you’re already wandering around town.
What’s happening?
For food lovers, there’ll be plenty to browse, with Cork food producers, local businesses and artisan craft stalls setting up across the festival area.
Families are particularly well catered for, with a Rumley’s Farm pop-up animal experience bringing some farmyard favourites into the middle of the city.
There will also be Little Foodies Tipi demos and workshops, giving younger visitors the chance to get involved with food and cooking in a fun, hands-on setting.
And for those who don’t fancy spending the whole day discussing vegetables with a toddler, there’ll be plenty more going on, including giant games, face painting, live music and street theatre.
For city workers, it’s also worth keeping on the radar if you’re around town during the day – the festival zone offers an easy excuse to escape the office for a wander, grab something tasty and get a bit of live entertainment into your lunch break.
