Toast marshmallows by the campfire at this affordable tipi glamping spot

Get those days off in the office calendar.
If the idea of your perfect summer escape involves campfires, sea air, birdsong and a price tag that doesn’t make you break out in a sweat, we may have just found your next staycation spot.
Dunbeacon Camping and Glamping is tucked away on the Mizen Peninsula along the Wild Atlantic Way, with sweeping views over Dunmanus Bay and the Sheep’s Head Peninsula.
Located just outside Durrus and within easy driving distance of Ballydehob, Schull and Bantry, the campsite strikes a balance between “completely off-grid” and “actually quite comfortable.” Which, frankly, is ideal.
Guests can stay in everything from tipis and bell tents to camper van berths and traditional camping pitches, but the real standout is the Buffalo Spirit Lodge — a cosy setup with its own private decking that sleeps four adults or two adults and three kids from €120 per night for midweek stays.
Not €120 each. €120 total. You can pitch a tent for €15 a night or roll up in a campervan for €40.

And before you imagine wrestling a sleeping bag at 2am, they’ve already thought of that too. Colourful duvets, fresh linens, pillows and warm blankets are all included.
There’s also a 150-year-old Maasai Safari Bell Tent where adults can actually stand upright — a luxury seasoned campers will understand deeply — with countryside and woodland views right outside your door.

The heart of the whole place is the Hozho, a communal hangout space named after a Navajo word meaning peace, balance, beauty and harmony. Which is fitting, because the entire campsite seems designed to lower your blood pressure.
“Hozho was made for slow mornings, shared meals, and good chats,” the Dunbeacon crew explain.
“With an outdoor kitchen, toaster, cooker, sink, and a cosy indoor nook for relaxing and eating — it’s everything you need to feel at home, even when you’re off-grid.”
During the day, there’s no shortage of things to do nearby either: hiking, cycling, sea swimming, kayaking, sailing, or simply sitting still with a coffee, “embracing nature”.
With West Cork looking particularly gorgeous in the sunshine lately, don’t be surprised if this place books up very quickly. Check your dates and the latest rates here.
