We are so ready for this kind of outing.
If sipping a hot chocolate while strolling through fields of beautiful Christmas trees sounds like the stuff of your Instagram dreams, pick a date for a visit to Inniscarra Christmas Tree Farm.
Nestled in the beautiful Lee Valley just downstream from the Inniscarra Dam, the Roper’s family-run farm is the ideal spot for some festive outdoor fun (and some stunning family photos to mark the end of a very long year).
The best bit? It’s all alfresco so you can make it special and invite the whole gang.
As well as being a nostalgic day out and a spot where the kids can stretch their legs, this place is a dream for fussy Christmas tree hunters; you can stroll through the plantation and pick out your own perfect tree or choose from a range of pre-cut premium Christmas trees arranged like a forest in the farmyard.
There are stunning Noble Fir (forest green needles) and Nordman Fir (bright green needles) to choose from in all sizes, with extra-large 15ft trees available for those with huge halls to deck out.
Don’t worry if the weather isn’t co-operating either; the trees are arranged in a large covered shed on rainy days.
They also offer the handy option to prepay for collection and disposal after Christmas is over, so you don’t have to lug your droopy tree to the dump in January.
Hot chocolate is served (free of charge) at the weekend. The Eircode is P31V061 if you need directions, check out the website for more details.
