This Cork designer creates magical personalised letters from Santa

A Frankfield graphic designer is turning into one of Santa’s little helpers for Christmas, launching her own range of magical personalised letters from the big man himself.
Providing a nice ‘shop local’ option to the growing trend of personalised Santa letters, the uber-talented Mel Burke of Mad House Designs has released an enchanting festive offering to spread the Christmas magic — beautiful generic and personalised letters starting from a very reasonable €10.
Tailored to each child’s unique Christmas dreams, the letters can include mentions of something specific to the child such as welcoming a new sibling, starting an exciting new sport, or embarking on a school adventure.
Parents can send over any information they wish to include, along with the child’s forename and surname in the initial outreach email.

The self-employed mother-of-two, who set up her business in the middle of the pandemic chaos, told Yay Cork that the idea of the letters has been brewing for years.
Mel began designing special letters for her now five-year-old daughter Harper that radiated pure holiday magic.
Word soon got out among friends and family, who were lucky enough to get their hands on Mel’s creations. Then, this year, a friend suggested that Mel take her festive talents public and let folks beyond her immediate circle experience the enchantment.
“I am obsessed with Christmas and trying to make it as magical as possible for the kids.” Mel told us.
“I have kept each one of Santa’s letters for Harper throughout the years, and they are just wonderful keepsakes to give to them when they’re older.
“My husband thinks I’m like Arthur Christmas now, sitting down to reply to all the kids’ letters. I just need to find the perfect pair of elf slippers.”
