Sink into Fota’s new Lazy Days Bath ritual for the ultimate self-care treat

Imagine the best bath you ever took.
Now remember how zen you felt afterwards and double it; that’s what you can expect to feel like on stepping out of the new Lazy Days Bath at the five-star Fota Island Resort & Spa.
Firstly, I hear you; the concept of paying for someone to run you a bath might seem a little… extra. However, if you’re seeking a full-body treat designed to soak away aches and pains, moisturise skin and massage your mind for half an hour, this is the one.
The experience begins at the welcome desk where you collect your cosy spa robe. All guests receiving spa treatments enjoy complimentary access to the Hydrotherapy Pool and Acacia Thermal Suite so arrive an hour early to take full advantage.
After pottering between the gorgeous barrel sauna in the outdoor garden and the hydrotherapy pool, where nine different areas are specifically designed to massage your entire body, your therapist will collect you from the cocoon-like waiting area and guide you to a private, candlelit bathing suite.
The guided meditation track begins (the soothing voice comes from an iPad carefully placed on the bath tray alongside some water and a pot of deliciously unctuous face mask to slather on as you relax).
The voice invites you to submerge your body into a warm bath of organic, hand-harvested Atlantic seaweed (Fucus Serratus), which is known to remove unwanted toxins and alleviate aches and pains. You can add more hot and cold water to your liking, then drift off on a gentle journey into half-sleep to the sound of waves crashing on the shore.
The experience ends as you pat your freshly bathed skin dry with a fluffy towel, smooth on a luxe layer of Voya’s hydrating body lotion and retire to the relaxation room for herbal tea.

The Lazy Days Bath is suitable for pregnant guests after the first trimester and is also an excellent treat for anyone with dermatitis, eczema, or psoriasis, which are all conditions that can benefit from the treasure chest of minerals and fatty acids in seaweed.
“This bathing ritual is the simplest and purest of all organic treatments, with its organic status approved by the IOFGA.” they told us.
Level up: Turn the experience into a spa escape by staying over and booking Fota’s exclusive Serenity Massage too; unique to Fota Island Spa, the Serenity Massage involves a refreshing foot soak and foot mask followed by a full body massage and a face and scalp massage.
Afterwards you can kick back in the Cove Restaurant or the Amber Lounge for a decadent dinner (try the Mac and Cheese if you pick the latter) or take a table on the terrace for an al fresco glass of wine before retiring to your five-star luxury room and its cloud-soft Respa Bed.
You can book the Lazy Days Bath at Fota (€65 for 30 minutes) here.
