Risk of flooding as rain warning issued for Cork

It’s a day for staying indoors.
Cork is one of three counties affected by a weather warning that came into effect earlier this morning (Wednesday, December 22nd).
Met Éireann issued the status yellow rain warning at 7.19am this morning.
It advises: “Several bands of heavy rainfall will bring accumulations of 30-50mm, with higher totals likely in mountainous regions. This may lead to localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions.”
Kerry and Waterford are also impacted.
The warning is expected to remain in place until 6am tomorrow, as the heavy rainfall is expected to continue throughout the night.
Fortunately, there will be a clearance by morning, though scattered showers are to be expected throughout Thursday.
