Myo is starting an outdoor chess tournament and the prize is pretty impressive

It’s a LoveLee idea.
We all went a bit mad after the release of the Queen’s Gambit, convincing ourselves that we too could be a genius grandmaster of chess and climb the global rankings of the elite game if only we had the time, the opportunities, and the outfits.
Perhaps we should’ve started smaller.
Luckily for us budding chess whizzes, Myo Café has announced a Love Lee Chess Tournament at their Pope’s Quay location across June and July and is inviting everyone to join.
The chess will be played on two beautifully designed limestone tables now installed by the river.
“Get ready for an epic Chess Tournament at our café on June 10th,” said the cafe crew on Instagram. “We’ve got a massive €1000 prize pool.’
Anybody can take part, from kids to adults, and blitz groups (a blitz chess club is a live chess team competing against other live chess teams).
All you need is a dream and the €5 participation fee, which Myo is donating to charity.
Kids and Adult games are both 10 minutes per player and blitz groups are three minutes. The first day of the tournament takes place on Saturday, June 10th. If you would like to take part, register here.
