A ‘mini Peace Park’ will open on a Cork City quay this weekend

There’s something special underway on Pope’s Quay.
“We’re really excited to announce the opening of a brand new mini peace park which has been in the works on Pope’s Quay for some time!” the Myo Café crew announced on Instagram.
“The wall installation is decorated with hand-moulded clay tiles, and embedded with traditional and international symbols of peace and will be unveiled at our Bridget’s Day event featuring performances from across the communities currently facing extreme exploitation, western-backed war and genocide: Palestine, Congo, Sudan, Ukraine among others.”

The group thanked artist Davy Dummigan who realised the entire renovation of the space, which will feature a new ramp for wheelchair users, seating areas to enjoy views of the river, and a large peace flag.
“We will also have QR codes embedded in the wall which will lead people to an online peace wall where people can continuously submit mindfulness techniques, poems, prose, quotes, links to videos- whatever is an inspiration for peace and humanity.” they added.
They will be hosting a free, family-friendly day of festivities ahead of the bank holiday on Sunday, February 2nd from 1pm-5pm alongside their neighbours Coffee Scape, Myx Tix and the Bierhaus and supported by Ceart, Travellers Visibility Group, Good Shepherd Cork and Cork City Council.
Collections will be made on the day for Edel House-they provide emergency accommodation for women and children who are homeless.
