A Cork café is serving up an interesting evening of hip-hop and chess

And now for something completely different.
Hip-hop and chess might sound like an unexpected combo, right? But hold up, because Myo, that friendly café on Pope’s Quay, is about to drop some knowledge on how these two worlds collide.
Get ready for a dope evening of beats and moves on Thursday, October 5th.
Organised by Woohahchess, the evening is all about showing the mathematical rhythm that hip-hop and chess share, and the strategies involved in both.
And Myo couldn’t be a more perfect location, with the quayside café boasting the city’s first outdoor chess tables, installed in April this year.

The social media clip from the last event — complete with the best tunes, sunsets, oat milk flat whites, and deft chess moves — is the perfect teaser of what to expect.
All abilities are welcome and while chess boards are available, players are also invited to bring their own from 7pm.
