Met Eireann has issued a yellow thunder warning for Cork

Uh oh.
It might be wise to bring in the washing later; Met Eireann has issued a yellow weather warning for Cork until 9pm tonight.
The national forecaster is predicting the heatwave will be interrupted briefly by “severe thunderstorms” on Leeside, as well as in Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary.
“Some thunderstorms will develop this afternoon leading to some intense rainfall over short time periods and local spot flooding, most likely in central and southern parts of the province while other areas may well escape and stay dry.” the forecaster warned.
Temperatures will remain balmy at up to 23C though, and Sunday should be warm and dry if you need to postpone that barbecue.
