Cork Midsummer has announced the first acts of the 2022 Festival

We can almost feel that warm summer sunshine.
Looking ahead to that time of the year when we’re settling into the flow of things, the kids are on their holibobs and festival magic is in the air, Cork Midsummer has offered a sneak peek into this year’s line-up.
The festival, which showcases acts from multiple disciplines including music, dance and theatre, has just announced two exciting highlights from the upcoming programme: acclaimed singer and musician Sharon Van Etten and electrifying UK-based group BAC Beatbox Academy.
Van Etten is an American singer-songwriter with five studio albums under her belt. One of her best-known songs Seventeen has amassed over seven million views on Youtube. She will perform at Cork Opera House on June 23rd as part of her Darkness Fades Tour which follows the release of her new album, We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong, on May 6th, 2022.
Bac Beatboxing Academy will perform their new show Frankenstein: How To Make A Monster at the Everyman on Friday, June 17th and Saturday, June 18th. The powerful and poetic performance has received four and five-star reviews from the likes of The Guardian, The Observer and The Times UK and promises to push “the energy of the human voice to its expressive, musical and rhythmic limits.”.

There will also be a free beatboxing workshop for those aged 6-21 years old led by hip hop artist Conrad Murray at The Everyman Theatre. Participants will have the opportunity to improve their vocal technique and learn all about this curious style of music-making.
Beatboxing workshops will take place from June 14th to 16th. You can grab your tickets from the Cork Midsummer website.
