Behind-the-scenes photos show the Midsummer Parade is almost ready for its debut

Cork’s littlest residents will be staying up late for this one.
Cork Community Art Link (CCAL) has shared photos of some of the mesmerising characters that will be lurching through the city on Tuesday, June 21st when the first-ever Cork Midsummer Parade winds its way down Oliver Plunkett Street
The Parade will begin at 7pm, running for around 45 minutes.
Taking place on the summer solstice, fantastical floats, puppets, masked performers and all manner of musicians, dancers and revellers will take to the streets for a unique performance in the celebration of the longest day of the year and the creativity of Cork communities.

Designed by the talented folk behind the Dragon of Shandon, the event will showcase the colourful costumes, props and floats designed and created by CCAL’s crew in collaboration with community groups and volunteers.
“A programme of workshops have been running in the months leading to the parade, working with groups such as National Learning Network, YMCA Step Programme, Cope Foundation, CCAL Drama Group and CCAL Dance Group.” a spokesperson for the organisation told us.
“Performances in the parade will feature groups Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance, Cork City Samba, Andrea Williams & young dancers from the Traveller community, Cork Circus Factory and Aatma: Indian Dance Troupe in Cork.”
The Cork Midsummer Parade will be starting on the Parnell Street end of Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork City Centre at 7pm on Tuesday, June 21st, 2022.
