Are you a nervous rider?
With new upgrades to cycling infrastructure underway across Cork, there will soon be plenty of opportunities to travel by bike and feel safer when doing so.
For some people, an aversion to cycling can be put down to road safety concerns, whilst for others, it’s a matter of practice and getting used to navigating the streets on two wheels.
Now Cycle Style Cork- supported by Transport and Mobility Forum and Cork City Council- is organising a special slow ride event to encourage women and girls to hop on the saddle in Cork City. The event will start off on the Grand Parade before navigating slowly around the island to check out the city’s iconic street art, graffiti, and murals.
Women and girls make up just one in four cyclists in Ireland, so there’s a particular focus on this demographic in order to encourage more female participation.
The event promises a “very slow, easy, and fun cycle particularly suitable for less confident cyclists,” said a spokesperson for Cycle Style Cork.
