There’s an adorable Otter Cycle planned as part of this year’s Cork Bike Week

It’s less Lycra, more look-around-you.
There are few things more magical than spotting an otter slipping through the water or a seal popping its head up in the middle of the city — and in Cork, it happens more often than you’d think.
As part of Bike Week and Biodiversity Week 2026, a charmingly slow and easy guided cycle will invite people to see the city from a whole new angle on Saturday, May 16th at 10am.
Taking place during Bike Week 2026 (May 9th–17th), this gentle spin through the city will shine a light on the miniature wildernesses tucked into the cracks and hollows of Cork’s quay walls. While keeping an eye out for otters and seals along the river, cyclists will also learn how nature quietly thrives in the most unexpected urban corners.
Designed to be very slow and especially welcoming for less confident cyclists, the event is all about tuning into the small things and rediscovering the wild side of the city.
Organisers have confirmed that the event will definitely go ahead, even as the wider Bike Week programme is finalised this spring. Plans are already in motion for at least three events a day across the nine-day festival, including long-distance cycles on most days for those feeling more adventurous.
Best of all, it’s completely free, funded by Cork Sports Partnership and the Cork Transport & Mobility Forum. Find out more here.
