Casanova Gelato has come up with a distinctly ‘Cork’ savoury gelato flavour, and the main ingredient is Gubbeen Cheese.
An earthy (some might say musty) cheese with hints of mushrooms, creamy butter and hazelnuts made in Schull, it comes in plain and smoked varieties and the creative makers have chosen the latter for their unusual, yet alluring new recipe.
The Casanova crew will be selling their handmade gelato with smoked Gubbeen, rosemary, smoked paprika, and apricot at €3.40 a scoop throughout the weekend as part of Cork on a Fork.
Might go well with a red wine popsicle after dinner.
