A beginners Spoon Carving Workshop might be the nicest way to spend a Sunday

When was the last time you made something with your hands?
If you’re looking for a way to reconnect with your inner carpenter, but you don’t want to jump in at the deep end with say, a huge bed or a wardrobe, an upcoming one-day workshop could be exactly what you need.
Benchspace will host a Spoon Carving Workshop on Sunday, November 7th, 2021 from 10am until 5pm.
“You’ll not only learn a new skill to take away, but also your very own hand-carved spoon to take home and use for coffee grounds or just to say ‘I made this!'” they say.
Tutor Tom Sheehan will guide you through the steps and techniques used to carve a block of wood into a wooden spoon using a type of carving called whittling. The main focus will be on the tools and the skills around using them safely and efficiently, giving you the know-how and the confidence to start your own carving journey.
There will be a one-hour break (bring your own lunch) on the day and all skill levels (ages 18+) are welcome, but do note that the course requires hand-eye coordination and the ability to follow precise instructions with regards to safety.
