Two comic book writers are hosting a free workshop for Cork kids

Do you have a creative kiddo in the house?
Whether they enjoy reading comics or they’re always doodling away at illustrations of their own, an upcoming workshop for children aged between nine and 12-years-old will offer some expert guidance on how to make a comic strip.
Led by comic book writer and editor Colin O’Mahoney and comic book artist Mari Rolin, the free workshop takes place on Saturday, October 30th. 2021 as part of Cork City Libraries’ October Children’s Book Festival.
The tutorial will cover all aspects of comic book production, from the process of coming up with ideas to the finished artwork.

“Participants will be encouraged to create stories that draw from their own lives and experience, but will ultimately be able to tell whatever kind of story they want to tell.” say the organisers.
“No art or writing experience or expertise is required. The workshop aims to give each participant all the tools necessary to create their own comic strip.”
The workshop will run from noon until 1.30pm on October 30th and you can reserve your free place here.
