This sweet village shop has been bought by a well-known foodie couple

Big news in Leap this morning.
The couple behind the Michelin-Guide-listed Pilgrims restaurant, which closed its doors in in Rosscarbery in January, have announced an exciting new project in the West Cork village.
Chef Mark Jennings and his partner Sadie Pearce have purchased the sweet village store, with plans to turn the venue into a shop, deli and café – the perfect stop for locals, holidaymakers and daytrippers en route to the coast.
“It’s official we’re coming to Leap, overjoyed to announce we have purchased a shop in the wonderful village.” Jennings shared on Instagram.
“Built in 1950 by the Harrington Family, this shop has had many faces. Now it’s our turn to give it a whirl. With sustainability, locality, produce and a bit of creative cooking at the forefront of our plans. We hope to run a local shop/deli and daytime cafe.

“Whilst our previous ventures indulged in nighttime dining, while our kids are small we will dance the day jig!”
The pair plan to be open by summer 2025, all going well, with planning permission already secured for two extensions and an outdoor seating area.
“For now we will start to build in the beautiful Leap!” added Jennings.
