It’s a rough time for restaurants.

Having battled through another year of closures, curbs and restrictions, the industry is facing the final challenge of 2021; an omicron surge that’s sweeping the country, bringing a host of staffing issues.

The latest Cork restaurant to succumb to the pressure is South Mall spot Jacobs on the Mall, where management have taken the difficult decision to shut the doors for the time being.

“Given the severity of Covid-19 and its exposure to our staff, we have taken the difficult decision to close our doors until we know it is safe for our staff and customers to return.” the owners said in an Instagram post.

“Our sincerest apologies for any inconveniences. Stay Safe, all at Jacobs on the Mall.”
