This hotel is throwing a Downton Abbey-themed New Year’s bash

Ah, New Year’s Eve in Cork.
The indecisiveness, the chaos… the 4am taxi home.
If you’re looking to avoid the celebratory madness this year, and enjoy something a little more sophisticated, The Eccles Hotel Glengarriff is holding a super glamorous New Years’ Eve Downton Ball that may be what you’re looking for.
Steeped in over 250 years of history and situated in the quaint village of Glengarriff overlooking Bantry Bay, the hotel has been welcoming guests to its stunning location since 1745, including illustrious visitors such as Maureen O’Hara and W.B Yeats.
This year, they’re turning back the clock and celebrating the 1920s with a stylish cocktail jazz reception in their stunning ballroom. This will be followed by an exquisite five-course gourmet dinner created by award-winning chef Eddie Atwell.
After dinner, you’ll be treated to some hot swing jazz by Cork’s own Darktown strutters.

Guests are encouraged to dress for the occasion and channel their inner aristocrat for a shot at winning some fantastic prizes in the Best Dressed Competition. You just have to bring your best ‘Lady Mary chic’ to be in with a chance.
At the end of the evening, you can either retire home or opt to enjoy the celebrations a little longer by staying over in one of their 57 guest bedrooms.
Better yet, make it an overnight spa break and ease yourself into the New Year relaxed and refreshed after the festivities.
Sounds like a plan to us.
Tickets to the ball are €69pp, contact reservations@eccleshotel.com or call 027 63003 to book.
