New Year’s Eve weather: Met Éireann predicts ‘an unsettled and mild start to 2022’

It’s a fitting end.
Met Éireann is predicting a windy start to the final day of 2021, with fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds.
According to the forecast, it will be “largely cloudy” throughout Friday, January 31st with patchy light rain and drizzle to start.
It will become drier by afternoon if you’re planning a New Year’s Eve stroll, but you better be quick about it: “It will become windy again in the evening with further outbreaks of rain.” said a forecaster.
On the plus side, it will be unseasonably mild with highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees.
As for Saturday (New Year’s Day), the first day of 2022 will be “quite wet and blustery with fresh to strong southwesterly winds and outbreaks of rain to start”.
“The rain will clear eastwards to showers in the afternoon, some of which will turn heavy. Milder than average with highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.”
