5 outdoor spots to dine in the spring sunshine over Mother’s Day weekend

By Christina Collins March 25, 2022March 24, 2022

It’s the blast of vitamin D we all need.

Temperatures are set to reach a toasty 17C this weekend, enticing us all out to bare our pasty skin to the glorious sunshine.

More importantly, it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, so what better way to celebrate your Mammy than to seat her in a sun-drenched terrace or beer garden for some food and (several) fruity cocktails?

These spots offer top-notch lunches and brunches alfresco:

1. Aye

Treat your mum to Bottomless Brunch this Sunday in Aye’s open-top beer garden. Tables at Aye are walk-in only so you can turn up from 1pm and nab your spot. Aye is busy at the best of times so make sure to arrive early to avoid disappointment.

2. Good Day Deli

Good Day Deli has the most fabulous views of the city, all nestled within the quiet oasis of Nano Nagle Place. Bookings can still be made for an early brunch on Sunday with limited availability in their outdoor patio and garden gazebos.

It’s an absolute sun trap on a warm day so bring your shades and pack some sunscreen just in case.

3. The Black Pig

Kinsale in the sunshine is absolute heaven. And after an afternoon stroll around the harbour, a trip to Charle’s Fort, or just a lazy sun-kissed Sunday rambling around the colourful town, head on over to The Black Pig for an early dinner.

Bookings for their Garden Room can be made through their website here starting from 5:45 pm.

4. Market Lane

If you want to catch the buzz in the city and enjoy a top-class lunch or evening meal, Market Lane has availability in their outdoor area on Sunday. The people-watching is top-notch.

5. The Anglers

Nestled on the bend of the River Lee, just outside Ballincollig, The Anglers is a comfortable spot for a family meal and they’re dog-friendly too so you don’t need to leave any family members at home.  Tables are still available in their outdoor seating area for Mother’s Day so you can tuck into an amazing traditional dinner and enjoy a fresh mojito by the Lee.

Walk-ins only for Sunday lunch this weekend.
