5 of the best terraces in Cork for an al fresco brunch in the sunshine

You know the drill.
The moment the clouds part, we’re all about embracing that glorious outdoor life.
And what’s the ultimate way to do it? With a fantastic brunch on a sun-kissed terrace, surrounded by good company and even better food, of course. So slap on the SPF, and let’s explore these brilliant sunny brunch spots.
1. Lounge over brunch or lunch at Léa’s
Nestled beside the stunning Glucksman Gallery, Léa’s isn’t your average fry-up joint. This spot is all about fresh, seasonal produce, with a menu that changes like the exhibits at the gallery itself. Think quirky twists on classics – avocado toast with a harissa kick, eggs Benny with smoked salmon, hollandaise and salsa verde or Hong Kong French Toast sandwiched with Nutella.
After you’ve refuelled, take a wander through the Glucksman for a helping of culture.

2. The Anglers: A Breath of Fresh Air (and Brunch)
Fancy escaping the city buzz for a bit? The Anglers in Carrigrohane is the answer to your prayers. This historic pub boasts a fantastic beer garden, perfect for a leisurely brunch in the sunshine. Soak up the fresh air, stunning scenery, and of course, their yummy food – we love their Mushrooms on Sourdough with asparagus, roasted tomatoes and eggs.
Oh, and a Bloody Mary if it’s the weekend.

3. Brunch fit for a King (or Queen) at The Castle Cafe
Celebrating 14 years in business this year and perched right beside legendary Blackrock Castle, The Castle Cafe’s lovely terrace is a glorious spot to dine out in the sunshine.
They do a mean Butterbean Shakshuka, with a poached egg, smoked Gubeen and brown toast and you should absolutely order a stack of their Buttermilk Pancakes with blackberry compote, toasted almonds and crème fraiche to share.
You’ll leave feeling happily stuffed, ready to explore the castle grounds or take a stroll down by the scenic Blackrock village.

4. Aye for the Open-Air Feast
Feeling fancy? Aye’s got you covered with their bottomless brunch in their fab open-top beer garden. If you’ve brought an appetite, go for the Porchetta served with fennel salad chilli vinegarette and crackling crisps.
Be warned though, this place gets lively, so get there early to snag a table and get the party started. Pro tip: Hit the signature cocktail menu for a ‘Bramble On’.
