A new survey has revealed that Cork is the spookiest county in Munster, with at least 620 haunted sites recorded on Leeside- the third-highest number in the country.
With Halloween around the corner, Aldi looked at what makes the Irish public shake with fear, and Cork came up trumps when it came to things that go bump in the night.
Luckily, Munster was also found to be the most fearless province in Ireland, with 53% of respondents claiming not to be afraid of any Halloween creatures.
Another fun fact from the data is that while Munster is the most fearless province, ghosts are the most feared Halloween creature in the area (32%) followed closely by the banshee and zombies (30% each).
In any case, Cork may be ghoulish, but Dublin takes the title of Ireland’s overall spookiest town
The data was retrieved by careful analysis of the number of haunted sites, abandoned towns, abandoned buildings and ruins, graveyards, and sunshine hours in each county.
