This St Lukes pizzeria whispers MANTRAS over their dough

A decent slice of pizza is a spiritual experience, no matter where you get it.
In St Luke’s however, one travelling pizzeria is dishing up pies that literally have happiness and positivity baked into the crust.
Pizza Pomodoro serve their extra special pizzas to hungry seekers on Friday nights at Henchy’s Bar on St Luke’s Cross.
What you might not know is that owners Alessio Faggioli and his wife, yoga teacher Tereza Sai chant mantras as they roll the dough.
“In January we started our first six month Yoga Sadhana Course for students who want to go deeper into the practice of yoga. Part of the practice is mantra chanting in the morning.” Tereza told Yay Cork.
“Our dough is usually worked early in the morning and that’s also the time when we chant our mantras so it became a ritual.”
There is a mantra for physical health and wellbeing, a mantra for wisdom, understanding, clarity and creativity. There’s even a mantra to remove obstacles and disturbances – considerable bang for your buck in terms of pizza toppings.
“We hope our customers will feel the power of these mantras while eating our pizza,” smiles Tereza.
There’s a health benefit too; the pizza dough is made using spelt flour and allowed to rise for two days, making it easier to digest.
Flavours include the ‘Extravagant’ (tomato sauce, aubergine, caramelised onion, goat’s cheese and mozzarella) and the ‘Potato’ (thinly sliced potato, mushrooms, mozzarella and rosemary), but you can choose your own toppings for the same price.
You can order a Pizza Pomodoro pizza at Henchy’s Bar in St Luke’s every Friday from 6pm until 10pm.
The pizzas are a tenner but the good vibes are free.
