This is the coolest neighbourhood in Cork, according to The Times

Everyone’s crossing the bridge lately.
And if it’s been ages since you spent a night on the town over on MacCurtain Street, this might give your weekend plans a shove in the right direction.
Cork’s VQ (the area formerly known as the Victorian Quarter) has been tipped as the city’s coolest neighbourhood by The Sunday Times Ireland.
Travel journalist Estella Shardlow had a fine old time exploring our “compact and walkable” city, visiting key attractions including Shandon, Cork City Gaol, Nano Nagle, the butter Museum and Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral.
While the review of her city stay is glowing by all accounts, there was one area that impressed her the most:
“Don’t let the name of the Victorian Quarter fool you: the architecture may be 19th-century, but its attitude is far from stuffy or antiquated.” Shardlow writes.
“Located on the north bank of the River Lee, cultural venues (the Everyman theatre, City Limits Comedy Club), cool wine bars (try Nell’s) and pubs laying on live Irish music make this Cork’s liveliest neighbourhood. Come the weekend, vintage-lovers make a beeline to VQ (as the district’s known locally) for the Mother Jones Flea Market.”
Add Paladar, The Glass Curtain, MacCurtain Wine Cellar, Five Points Cafe, Lab 82, Sin É, Cask, White Rabbit and Dan Lowrey’s to that list and you’ve got yourself the makings of a top-notch Cork weekender.
