This Douglas Street flower shop is making city deliveries by bike

Ireland’s greenest florist might just be in Cork.
Cork Flower Studio is celebrating 13 years of business on Leeside this week, and owner Justine Looney is making a serious commitment to ensuring her store is one of the most sustainable in town.
The Douglas Street florists and café is pledging to make the next 13 years more eco-friendly, while continuing to champion Irish design. Not only have they made a host of changes behind the counter, but they’re also hitting the streets fulfilling their city bouquet deliveries by cargo bicycle.
“In the last two years, we have gradually phased out all packaging and replaced it with glass vases, which customers can keep or return to be re-used,” said Justine.

“All the milk for our take away coffee comes in glass bottles, which are returned to Gloun Cross dairy each week. We have invested in a shredder and composter for all our green waste, a cargo bike for local deliveries and a water butt for harvesting rainwater.”
Cork Flower Studio is also working towards completely eradicating floral foam from the business, a product heavily used in funeral flowers.
“We have found our customers to be hugely supportive of every green measure we have introduced and we are excited about the next 13 years on Douglas Street,” added Justine.

Justine and her team were also behind the gorgeous hanging greenery in the newly extended design shop at Nano Nagle Place so drop them a line if you fancy ordering any leafy treats that catch your eye.
