Lads, the romance!

Cork was gripped by excitement this morning as we waited for the love birds behind these mysterious proposal posters to come forward.

The blue and yellow posters, pasted on two advertising board next to ads for the Christmas panto, feature just one (very important question: ‘S.B.C. WILL YOU MARRY ME?’

Now we know SBC stands for Sadhbh Barrett Coakley… and she said yes!

Sadbh’s partner Al d’Alton is the owner of Poster Displays Limited, a company that supplies premium billboard space situated in high footfall locations in Cork city – perfect for getting a very special message to someone important.

Sadhbh, who had been brought to the location by her boyfriend of seven years on the pretence of fixing a poster, was shocked when she turned around to find him on one knee, holding a custom-designed sea glass engagement ring.

Al, who placed 20 posters all over town, told Yay Cork:

“It happened last night after Sadhbh finished work in the Opera House – we got a taxi home and I asked the taxi man to pull over on Southern Road… the taxi man didn’t have a clue what was going and neither did Sadhbh, obviously.”

We can’t think of anything more romantic.
