Planning a cosy daytime pint? These are the Cork pubs with the best fireplaces

There’s nothing better than a cosy fire.
And luckily for us, Cork has plenty of fireside pubs to toast your toes as you enjoy a creamy Beamy and a long-needed chinwag with some old friends over the Christmas holidays.
Order yourself a drink and sit down in the snug corners of these old Cork haunts, which are made for days like this.
1. Costigans
Costigan’s on Washington Street have gone all out this year with what looks like GAA socks hanging from the mantlepiece and frankly, we’re here for it. If you’re in on time, grab a seat right in front of this open fire, order a stout and settle in for the night (or at least until closing time).

2. The Oval
Just around the corner, The Oval crew are masters in keeping their fire topped up. Somehow, it’s always in the baked coal stage, which keeps you cosy and warm without the red face.

3. Bradleys
Bradleys always have a roaring fire going just in front of the bar. Head on up to Barrack Street and enjoy a pint at the nearest table.

4. The Shelbourne Bar
Up on McCurtain Street, The Shelbourne takes its whiskies very seriously. And what better combination than a hot toddy and a toasty fire to heat you up when temperatures outside have plummeted?

5. Coughlan’s
Down on Douglas Street, Coughlan’s gorgeous fire sings at us between sets in the beer garden. Warm your cockles here as you wait for your pints to settle and for the feeling to come back into your toes.
