Met Éireann says there’s a week of cold and wintry weather in store for Cork

We were just getting used to a bit of spring sunshine.
But Met Éireann has dashed all hope of a mild March, with some brutal wintry weather on the way over the next few days.
A Status Yellow Wind and Rain warning remains in place for Cork, Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Waterford, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo until 3pm today, as near gale force winds continue to batter the country.
“These winds will be accompanied by heavy rain clearing to squally showers through the afternoon, with hazardous driving conditions and localised flooding possible.” said a forecaster.
A Status Yellow – Wind and Rain warning for Ireland remains in place for the coming 24 hours, with more heavy rainfall expected tonight and on Wednesday.

In Cork “very heavy rain, turning wintry in parts, will move in across the region from the west” and it will be cold with lowest temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees generally.
Expect a wet and windy start tomorrow, with localised flooding and falls of sleet and snow.
