Now is the time to check those Christmas lights on the roof.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Cork, Kerry, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, and Clare, with the strongest gusts set to blow in from 6pm this evening, Thursday, December 12th.
“This evening and overnight, west to northwest winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/hr with gusts of 80 to 110 km/hr.” warned the national forecaster.
“Winds will be strongest along coasts and on hills and mountains.”
We can also expect scattered showers with the ongoing risk of hail and thunder tonight and some frost is possible too, though just in sheltered spots. It will be cold, with lowest temperatures of between three and five degrees.

The weather warning will remain in place until 9am on Friday, December 13th, 2019 so remember to take extra care on the roads tomorrow morning in case of fallen trees and other dangerous debris.
