Lidl’s newest Cork store will have a wildflower garden and electric car charger points

It opens on Thursday, October 20th.
And customers visiting Lidl’s brand-new store in Mallow when doors open at 8am will find eco-friendly additions at every turn.
As well as a spacious layout featuring high ceilings, wide aisles and an improved shop floor, the state-of-the-art store will provide increased natural light for customers and staff alike with glass-fronted glazing, LED lighting, and an energy-efficient system provided by 100 percent green energy.
The store grounds will feature ample customer car parking with EV charger points and a wildflower garden creating a haven for pollinators like bees, butterflies and hoverflies.
To mark the new store opening, the store team at Lidl Mallow has chosen the local charity, Mallow Search and Rescue to benefit from a €1,000 donation that will be presented on opening day.
The new store will also support many local suppliers in the region including West Cork Distillers, who supply Lidl with premium, award-winning whiskeys and gins including Wild Burrow Irish Gin and Dundalgan Irish Whiskey.
Hassett’s Bakery, who recently signed a contract worth over €6m to supply a new chilled cake range to Lidl stores, will be taking pride of place on the shelves and you can also shop the range from Keohane Seafood, who recently developed an innovative fish packaging made from reclaimed/recycled ocean plastic collected from shorelines.
An additional six new local jobs are being created at the site, bringing the team at the new Mallow store to 28. You can check it out daily Monday – Saturday 8am – 10pm, and Sunday 9am – 9pm.
