Looking for love in ’26? This Charity Speed Dating Night might be worth a shot

Single and open to a bit of a mingle?
If your January could do with a bit of fun — and a good excuse to put yourself out there — this upcoming speed dating night in Mallow might be just the thing.
A special charity speed dating event is taking place at the Hibernian Hotel in Mallow on Friday, January 30th, running from 9pm to 11pm, and it’s all in aid of Brú Columbanus.
The night, organised by John Martin Carroll, is open to those aged 25 to 40 and is designed to be relaxed, friendly and pressure-free, with the added bonus that every euro raised goes directly to a brilliant local cause. Brú Columbanus provides a “home from home” for families of seriously ill patients receiving treatment in Cork hospitals and the hospice, particularly families of sick children.
The charity is completely reliant on donations and fundraising to keep its doors open, with accommodation provided free of charge to those who need it most.
How do I get involved?
Taking part is simple: email charityspeeddating1@gmail.com to register, include your full name and age, and you’ll be sent a €15 donation link that goes straight to the charity. All participants will receive full event details by email 24 hours beforehand — then it’s just a case of showing up and enjoying the night.
It’s also worth noting that this is a private event, with no photos or videos taken, so attendees can relax and enjoy the experience without any added awkwardness.
Whether you’re hoping to meet someone new or just fancy doing something a bit different for a good cause, it’s a sociable way to spend a Friday night — and one that genuinely makes a difference.
