Highs of 24C forecast for Cork (but it’s a nightmare for hay fever sufferers)

We have high hopes for today’s weather.
But while most of us are dusting off deck chairs and stocking up on burger buns for a barbecue dinner this evening, the warmer conditions are set to make things quite uncomfortable for those with allergies.
Cork is going to be basking in glorious 23C sunshine for most of the day today and with it comes a cloud of annoying pollen that’s sure to make things tricky for sufferers.
“There will be a high to very high risk from grass pollen during the current warm and dry weather, away from the far north and west.” said a Met Éireann forecaster.

“Nettle pollen will also be airborne.”
‘Very High’ pollen alerts are in place for Munster and Leinster throughout Friday so if you feel the stuffiness and sneezing coming on it might be best to close the windows or head for the city instead of the garden.
