Halloween fans will freak for this two-day Pick-A-Pumpkin Festival

Not content with a pumpkin spice latte?
If you like to embrace Halloween and squeeze it for all its wholesome autumn goodness, then pop these dates in your calendar.
Cork charity, The Field of Dreams is opening its very own pumpkin patch in Curraheen over two weekends; October 9th and October 16th, 2022.
The popular Pick A Pumpkin festival is back with a spooktacular range of events where guests can select their very own pumpkin in a dizzying array of shapes, colours and sizes.
The event will take place at Clash Road, Curraheen which (post and pre-Halloween season) is usually used as a safe and supportive environment specifically catering to the training and educational needs of adults with Down Syndrome in a unique and social farming horticultural environment.
The festival is relatively new, popping up for the first time in 2019. They even managed to keep the pumpkins poppin’ through the pandemic with a hugely popular self-service farm shop and a pop-up pumpkin stall in UCC.
What can we expect on the day?
At this year’s festival, each pumpkin picker will head to the patch and wander the pumpkin trail (in fancy dress if you like. We absolutely do).
After you’ve selected the perfect specimen for your Jack O’Lantern, roll up your sleeves at the arts and crafts section, boogey to some tunes on the dancefloor and round off the day with a visit to the Pumpkin Café for some sweet treats.
Eco-conscious Corkonians will be delighted to hear that all pumpkins are chemical-free and grown by the resident horticulturist Nicky Green and her team.
The Pick a Pumpkin Festival will take place on Sunday, October 9th, and Sunday, October 16th from 10 am to 3.30pm and will be divided into 15-minute time slots for the Pumpkin Picking part of the day.
Entry tickets will cost €5 for entry only or €20 for pumpkin pickers. Head to Eventbrite to purchase tickets here.
