It’s a long old month, November.
Before the work parties begin to fill up our social calendars and we start tearing up at strangers’ family reunions on the SixOne News, this dark and dreary time of year can feel like a drag.
To shake off the cold and rainy pre-Christmas blues, the welcoming crew over at Myo Cafe on Pope’s Quay is hosting a Cosy Moon Gathering to welcome the winter season and bring the community together to share some music, meditation, and entertainment.
“We will begin with a little New Moon/Lunar Eclipse meditation, followed by a Rambling House,” they explained.
A rambling house was a community gathering in the old Irish tradition, a vehicle through which “to share songs, poetry, stories, and dance.”
“All the neighbours would gather in one person’s house for the evening’s entertainment, and this was an important way for communities to look out for one another, especially during the winter months.”
The evening will be facilitated by singer and linguist Ciara Finnerty who uses “mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing Voicework, Alexander Technique, The Artist’s Way 12-week creative recovery program, envisioning, chakra work, pressure point massage, EFT tapping, mindful movement, and primal sounds” in her work.
Finnerty will be joined by fellow vocalist Trish Karl, who is currently a BA Music Student at Cork School of Music and will share her own “special gift” on the night.

Gatherers are encouraged to bring a song, a poem, a story, or a dance for the Rambling House and to arrive on time to settle in for the evening.
The Cosy Moon Gathering takes place on Tuesday, November 8th at 7:15pm at Myo café on Pope’s Quay.
