Cobh lost its theatre. Now the community is bringing it back – and you can help

Attention, theatre fans.
When Cobh’s Great Island Theatre closed its doors, it wasn’t just a building that went dark, it took out a piece of the community too.
Now, in a wholesome plot twist, locals in the seaside town are doing something about it. A new space has been found, and the mission is clear: rebuild, re-equip, and bring the theatre back to life.
The only catch? It takes money.
Enter Self-Care Sunday—a fundraising event that somehow manages to make supporting the arts feel like a spa day. On Sunday, March 29th, ten wellness practitioners and sports professionals are donating their time for a full day of classes and workshops at Carrignafoy College, with every cent going directly towards building and equipping the new theatre.

The lineup includes yoga, strength training, Zumba, nutrition talks, floral art, menopause support, sleep sessions, and relaxation experiences—plus a chef-prepared lunch if you commit to the full day.
Tickets start at €55 for a half day or €85 for the full experience, which, considering you’re funding an entire cultural revival, is… actually a decent deal.
This is one of those rare moments where showing up—literally—helps rebuild something tangible.
Book your ticket now over here.
