Bring a mat AND boots for this glorious vegan yoga hike in Gougane Barra
Craving a big breath of fresh mountain air?
Cork yoga instructor Lauren Marples is organising a unique combination of challenge and chill this April, all set against the backdrop of the picturesque and soul-soothing Gougane Barra.
Yoga + Hike is taking place on Saturday, April 15th under the shadow of the Shehy Mountains in West Cork. The schedule includes breath work, a trail walk and a vinyasa ‘after-hike’ yoga class.
What to expect:
At 9am the group will meet in Gougane Barra car park to take part in breathwork and some non-strenuous joint warm-up before meandering through the forest towards the source of the Lee. At 10:30am and post-walk, the yogi will guide you through a specially designed vinyasa flow to target the muscles and joints used during the walk to release any tension, followed by a tasty vegan lunch picnic to bring the retreat to a close.
Participants are then welcome to stick around and enjoy the scenery, or go about their day as they so choose. If you fancy a coffee after the picnic, head to the Gougane Barra Hotel for chats and views of the famous church.

Yoga + Hike takes place on Saturday, April 15th from 9am-1pm. Tickets for the morning retreat are just €25 per person and are on sale from Lauren’s Eventbrite page here.
Participants are advised to eat breakfast before the day’s activities, bring a yoga mat and water as well as suitable footwear for walking, plus an all-weather jacket and a change of clothes (in the event of wet weather.)
