This Cork pizzeria just launched Ireland’s first REUSABLE pizza box

Got the Pizza Guilts?
Nope, we don’t mean about the calories (we’ve long stopped counting).
We’re talking the guilt that comes with having to awkwardly stuff the twelve-inch flat cardboard box into the main rubbish bin because the oils from the cheese and pepperoni make the entire thing unrecyclable.
Ugh.
Now a Cork pizza company has just launched their very own recyclable boxes… and they even pay for themselves.
“We are so happy to introduce Ireland’s very first re-usable pizza box from PIZZycle.” said the Volcano Wood-fired Pizza crew on Instagram.
“These lovely boxes keep your pizza toasty warm and tasty and cut out the need for single-use cardboard. They are not only reusable but are also 100% recyclable.”
The box itself is made from resource and emission-intensive single-use cardboard -which can traditionally only be used once and are difficult to recycle. According to PIZZycle, each box replaces “hundreds of pizza cardboard boxes”.
But how does it pay for itself? Well, each box costs €10 to buy and for the next 10 pizzas you buy from Volcano Woodfired Pizzas using your box, you’ll get €1 off each pizza.

The East Cork pizza company is a regular fixture at farmer’s markets including Midleton, Douglas, and Mahon and can be found on the weekends and school holidays at Fota Wildlife Park. They say that customers have been delighted with the idea.
“Thank you so much for all the support these got at the Midleton Farmers Market, it’s so lovely to see the enthusiasm,” said the company, adding that “We will be bringing these lovely boxes to the Mahon Point Market”.
Who votes that every pizza company in Ireland should do the same?
