‘Thanks for the courage to care.’
A Cork street artist has painted a heartfelt thank you to the city’s brave hospital workers and medical staff on an electrical box outside Cork University Hospital.
Artist and guerrilla gardener Kevin O’Brien, who is also part of Mad About Cork, completed the heartfelt piece over the weekend in time to welcome staff as they arrived for another tough week at work this morning.

The piece, painted in bright blue, depicts a nurse wearing Personal Protective Equipment, a mask and hospital scrubs as well as the hashtag #Standwithnursesandmidwives.
Kevin is behind a number of colourful artworks around Cork city and county, including the People’s Parklet on Douglas Street, a mural of Seán Ó Ríordáin in Skibbereen and two electrical boxes at Brian Dillons GAA featuring the writer and poet Daniel Corkery and Paul O’Leary, a famous tenor and hurler.
