Picnics don’t get more lavish than this.

A Kinsale foodie and marine biologist has launched a brand new excursion for tourists who really want to push the boat out for a special occasion.

Suzanne Burns of Kinsale Food Tours has teamed up with Sovereign Sailing to create a brand new Private Yacht Picnic Charter; an exclusive, luxury experience with a half-day sailing (morning or afternoon) on your own private charter boat.

Guests enjoy their own skipper and private guide as well as a gourmet picnic to feast upon as they take in the spectacular views.

“We sail out from the beautiful, historic Kinsale harbour and dock at a scenic location where you can relax and enjoy your sumptuous picnic,” Suzanne told Yay Cork.

“A range of Kinsale’s fantastic establishments are providing a selection of delectable treats. We also provide a choice of some local Kinsale drinks such as Kinsale Mead, Blacks Pale Ales, Stonewell Cider, wine and Prosecco, depending on your taste.”

Suzanne started Kinsale Food Tours in early 2017, having spent the previous decade working as a zoologist and wildlife guide in New Zealand and as a wildlife writer and photographer in Canada.

“When I returned home I started doing coastal walks, whale watching and kayaking trips. Eventually, I started the Kinsale Food Tours and that became my proper job!” she said.

“Last year I extended my coastal foraging tours (where we look at wild seaweeds, shellfish and plants) to include a gourmet picnic, for a fully immersive outdoor foodie experience.

“This year with the recent prolonged restrictions I thought it would be fun to create new outdoor food and coastal experience.”
