5 of the best oil diffusers to make your apartment smell like a glorious zen garden

They’re the new scented candle.

Everyone’s misting the air with a non-stop flow of essential oils.

While the oils are nothing new (the last time they were trendy we were burning them in little candle-lit dishes, remember?), the 2020 obsession is with diffusers, handy little gadgets that introduce your favourite oils into the air in vapour form.

You can choose an oil for every situation or feeling. Pop in some lemon oil when you need to concentrate on that proposal or end-of-year report. Add some lavender to relax before bedtime or some eucalyptus or peppermint to refresh your senses in the morning.

Geranium oil is the great balancer, while clary sage, jasmine, neroli, patchouli and rose are known as aphrodisiacs. Bergamot, frankincense, geranium and mandarin are also helpful in dealing with anxiety… plus they make your house or flat smell amazing.

There’s even an oil to help you attract more money into your wallet; patchouli is associated with abundance and prosperity, while cedarwood is said to help purge negative energy from people and places.

Here are five of the most popular oil diffusers on the market:

1. NEOM WELLBEING POD

As well as being absolutely gorgeous to look at, the Neom Wellbeing Pod delivers the perfect amount of scent in minutes. At the touch of a button, this clever humidifier can help you achieve better sleep, less stress, more energy or a mood lift with a blast of specially blended essential oils. It even switches off safely when it’s out of water so you can use it as you fall asleep.

Price: €99

2. VICTSING AROMA DIFFUSER

The stylish wood VicTsing can be used as an aromatherapy diffuser, humidifier, air purifier and night light and can run up to 10 hours of continuous output. Its silent operation means there’s no annoying beep sounds to disrupt your yoga, meditation or nap.

Price: €29.24

3. DOTERRA PETAL DIFFUSER

The doTERRA Petal Diffuser is a small, user-friendly diffuser with four time settings, a relaxing mist and soft white ambient light, making it ideal for nighttime diffusion.

Price: €63.96

4. HOMEDICS ULTRASONIC OIL DIFFUSER

Crafted from ceramic and wood into a pottery-inspired design, the Ellia Blossom Oil Diffuser comes with a quick start guide and an Ellia essential oil starter kit including two bottles of 100% pure essential oils in peppermint and orange.

Price: €43.74

5. ANJOU HUMIDIFIER AND OIL DIFFUSER

The Anjou model is one of the top rated on Amazon. A humidifier, an oil diffuser and a seven-colour lamp (you can use these functions individually or together) it’s BPA Free) and has an auto shut-off function and 300ml capacity for eight hours of continuous use.

Price: €29.69
