This’ll make your day.
A Cork city bookshop made two little girls very happy indeed this week when they sent them an unexpected present in the post.
It all started when High Street Books received an email from a customer with an unusual query:
“Until yesterday there was a chick and a bunny teddy in the window of the store on South Douglas Road.” read the note.
“My two young daughters have gone to visit them through the window most evenings these past few weeks. I see that they have now been removed from the window – are they for sale by any chance?”

The High Street Books team knew exactly who the letter writer was referring to: “They were our Easter window display so they had to go back to their nest and burrow.” they replied.
“However, we would be delighted to send them to a good home.”
High Street Books packed up Chick and Bunny and sent them, free of charge, to the family’s address as a surprise for their young fans, who had thoughtfully dropped by to ensure they were okay while everyone was self-isolating.
We love a story with a happy ending.
