We do love a two for one.
And now you can get all the soothing, stretching benefits of a good yoga class along with a top-notch toning session at a Cork city yoga studio.
Yoga Republic, one of the city’s longest established yoga studios, has just launched Yoga Gym.
A new trend in fitness, the class combines yoga and weights to create a workout that is guaranteed to banish your bingo wings and firm up wobbly bits like nobody’s business.
“In the classes, students will learn fundamental free weight exercises and the correct techniques to lift weights safely and effectively.” Yoga Republic’s Diana Skalkos told us.
“The classes will show you how to incorporate this into yoga asanas. These weight lifting exercises are chosen and developed to complement and support yogis in common challenges yoga practitioners encounter in every practise, from downward dog to crow to headstand or handstand.”
“A combination of yoga and strength training can enhance our quality of life and improve our ability to do everyday activities, especially as we age.”
Yoga Gym classes take place on Thursdays and Fridays at Yoga Republic, 21 Douglas Street, Cork. For more information, call Yoga Republic on 087 6560254.
