Where to get your hands on an elite “San Patricio” taco this St Patrick’s weekend

By Yay Cork March 13, 2026March 12, 2026

It’s a long weekend, we’re up for anything.

And if you like your St Patrick’s celebrations with a bit of spice, this limited-edition taco in Cork might be worth seeking out.

The team at Old Town Taqueria have created a special “San Patricio” taco for the St Patrick’s Festival weekend — and it’s a proper Cork-meets-Mexico situation.

The star of the €7 taco is a jalapeño black pudding made with Clonakilty Blackpudding, which already sounds like a pretty strong start. Feast your eyes on this:

It’s then topped with Scotch bonnet apple sauce from Cork Chilli Company, along with melted Monterey Jack cheese and fresh red cabbage to bring a bit of crunch.

So yes, there’s sweetness, spice, heat and smoky black pudding all happening in the one taco.

The café has warned that this one packs a bit of heat, so it’s probably not for the faint-hearted — but if you enjoy spicy food, it sounds like a very fun twist on the usual St Patrick’s weekend eats. They’ll also have the usual favourites like slow cooked pork carnitas (main image) on offer too so you can mix and match.

The San Patricio taco will only be available for the duration of the St Patrick’s Festival and while stocks last, so if you’re curious you’ll need to head to their Pembroke Street café to try it.

Honestly, black pudding in a taco might sound unusual at first — but when it’s Cork black pudding involved, we’re willing to trust the process.
