Weekend weather forecast gives some cause for optimism

It could be worse.
We are no longer in the throes of summer, and while the weather hasn’t gotten much colder, it’s already very clear that the rain has returned.
Still, there is cause for hope, and Met Éireann’s regional forecast forecast ahead of the weekend suggests that there are still some pleasant moments on the horizon.
While the rain is expected to persist throughout the rest of today (Thursday, 16th September), the heavier downpour is expected to clear by tomorrow and give way to sunshine with temperatures between 16 and 18 degrees.
Light showers are still to be expected, but Saturday will also be “largely dry with sunny spells,” before showers push towards the west as the afternoon wears on. This theme will continue on Sunday, as overnight rain eases of for a dry and bright day with a northerly breeze.
Temperatures are set to remain relatively static throughout, with highs of between 15 and 18 expected on both Saturday and Sunday.
While Monday is a ways away yet, Met Éireann also believe that there will be “a good deal of dry weather” at the outset of next week.
