Weather Warning: Met Éireann issues Cork alert ahead of ‘heavy rain and flooding’

It’s not exactly the Christmassy weather we were hoping for.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow this afternoon.
According to the national forecaster, heavy rain will push northeastwards on Wednesday with rainfall accumulations of 30-40mm expected with the risk of localised flooding.
A wind warning is also in place for the entire country, with the worst gusts expected in coastal areas so today would probably be a good time to double check those Christmas decorations on the roof.
The alert kicks in at 4am on Wednesday, December 18th, 2019 and remains in place until 7pm on Wednesday evening.
