We went in search of the best sharing boards to eat with friends

It’s the most affordable way to eat out.
More of us than ever are skipping the stuffy group dinners and hitting the pub early for sharing boards, tapas, charcuterie and cheese plates.
Best enjoyed with wine, there are tasty selections popping up on menus all over town so you can snack as you bar hop.
This isn’t just fun, it’s also convenient – when the night is over you can head straight home instead of stopping off at the chipper.
Here are five spots you should try first:
1. THE BRIDGE, Bridge Street
This buzzy Bridge Street bar is the kind of place you kick back for a good old Friday chin wag with your mates.
Nibbles are essential and their Meat & Cheese Sharing Board (€15) comes loaded with more artisan cheese and cold cuts than you can shake a toasted crostini at.
From Monday to Thursday you can order the Pre-Theatre Special; a bottle of wine and a Tapas Sharing Board for €25. You don’t even have to go to the theatre afterwards.
2. SALT, Victoria Road
Relive your Italian holiday at this cosy wine bar, where the Italian Temptation (€16.90) brings with it a selection of San Daniel ham, spianata, mortadella di pistachio served with mozzarella di buffalo, gorgonzola, balsamic onions and mixed olives (according to the season).
Freaking delizioso.
3. TOM BARRY’S, Barrack Street
Meeting the gang in the beer garden?
If you’d rather not fill up your precious beer space with their delicious pizzas, Tom B’s also does a mean meat and cheese sharing board for €15 – extras include olives, flatbread and pestos for dipping.
4. ARTHUR MAYNES, Pembroke Street
This 120-year-old chemist turned wine bar serves a mean Combo Board (€10) – piled high with two meats and two cheeses, warm rustic baguette and quince jelly.
Amazing value and more than enough for two.
The best bit? They serve tapas and boards until 1.30am so you never have to settle for a dodgy burger at closing time.
5. GOLDBERGS, Victoria Road
Located in the historic Jewish quarter of Cork City, from Sunday to Thursday between 6pm and 9pm you can order a cheese board and a bottle of wine for €25 at Goldberg’s.
It’s the perfect low-key date night. Or you could bring a book, find a cosy corner and have the most decadent evening of ‘me time’ ever.
Live your best life.
