UCC is running a course in ice cream making and it looks delicious

I scream, you scream…
…we all scream for an intensive three-day course on your favourite frozen treat?
Hands up if you’re as obsessed with ice cream as we are.
From the humble lump of raspberry ripple you always got at your granny’s house and the 99s you were reared on to the notions-y tubs of gelato you buy only after you’ve been paid, ice cream has a special place in Irish hearts.
Now, if you want to take your obsession to the next level, UCC is all over it.
The college is holding a short course on ice cream month (February 18th-20th, 2020) and our mouths are watering just thinking about it.
To be fair, the whole thing sounds more like a Home Ec lesson than a trip to Gino’s of Winthrop St back in the day (RIP) but if that’s your buzz, you’ll be in heaven.
“Ice Cream Science and Technology” at UCC will focus on how the dessert is made. Over three days, students will learn about everything from milk production and the freezing process to adding flavours and quality assurance. There’ll also be demonstrations and, surely, the opportunity to taste the good stuff at some point,
The training will be led by Professor Douglas Goff, whose job title of ‘ice cream researcher’ has to be one of the coolest we’ve ever heard. Literally. Professor Goff is travelling from Canada to impart his delicious, delicious wisdom with students in Cork.
If this sounds like fun (and you have €990 to spare) you can find out more here.
